Well this ward was my first ward posting in NUH during Year one.. n Now its my Last Ward Posting in NUH.. Beri nice ending hor

Monday 22.10.07
8-4pm Shift
Orientation day.. hahas the usual lah. But tis time abit different cus i took my flu medication n i was still having the side effects of the medication.. Was Freaking sleepy n Drowsy lor..Reached NUH bus-stop n jus nice sia.. it started raining -_-'''. Once reached the hospital, got myself 2 slices of pandan cake cus i haven had my breakfast.While waiting for the others, Ms Sukhdev got us to read the incident report from TTSH lah.. hmm medication error.

Once we got to the ward.. Ms Sukhdev appointed Me as grp leader n Junjie as Asst Leader. GreatWah tat place didnt change abit lor.. onli the cubicle n the High.D change.. the others were the same.Some of the staff were still there... but i dun think they remember some of us liao.. except for one sister who remember me lah.. Geezz.
As the CI gave us the orientation in the Day rm.. i was soo tired, somemore the environment was like aircon rm + sofa seat. so yah i fell aslp lah or should i say knocked out (but my CI n sukhdev noe abt my condition). Then tat Idoitic Big Mouth must go n Smack my Arm n say loudly" Eh Jeanette Dun Sleep LEH!"


After the orientation in the Rm.. We had the ward orientation n then it was break time lah.
Then Of course during break time tat big mouth must continue to PISS ppl off..


Me decided to try the malay stall cus heard the stringray is nice.. yah n guess wad, i had stomach ache 5 mins after eating finish. Lao sai lor.. haiz..Seriously hor jeslyn is a real joker.. hahas kept laughing at her jokes. Met Ms Sabrina there wah she wear sister uniform .. can hardly recognise her.
As we reach back the ward, Got to understand my patients abit lah then it was roll call n then report passing.Then Ms Sukhdev had briefing with us b4 our CI wanted to c us again..Guess wad.. jus 15 mins into the talk.. everybody started falling aslp.. hahas serious! then our CI gave us toilet break which some of us didnt go but stayed back to slp on the chair (hehe =p)even ms sukhdev laughed. Then when i woke up.. i saw SWEETS!! hehe we grab them lor.. hahas looks like on the last day must go buy sweets for them. After a super long briefing.. time to go home!

Changed n went to meet mum in KR.. then had early dinner n home sweet home =)

PM Shift (1200-2100)
For some reason i was not used to going to work early. In tis ward the PM Shift is 9hrs lah n AM Shift is 7 hrs..Hmm lets say today the AN for my cubicle is a guy so YiQin is posted to my cubicle lor. SN Ivan was in-charge for PM shift. Eh lets say he was there since i was year one lah hahas dunno whether he rememebers anot.Hmm can say i sitll not able to adapt myself to tis new environment.. prefer ward 44 cus there more systematic unlike tis ward..
Took one case today after Ms Sukhdev scolding haiz initalli didnt wan to lah cus many of the cases here are very complicated with long history so i wanted to find out more abt the patients b4 selecting case..Poor ivan.. have to teach the both of us n do his normal duties. But i've learnt alot of things from him lah.. such as putting up TPN, infusing antibiotic via burette, etc.Hmm other then tat nothing much to say lah jus tat b4 going hm, SN Siti gave us some tips on how to learn more about the patients n passing report.

Haiz today i've become a KAYA making machine(from the nose).Well if anybody noes wad i'm talking about hahas... lets say i've been sick since last friday n i tot my COLD has gotten better.BUT now im producing greenish mucous n tis clogging my nasal airway.Yah beri soon im gonna get Sinusitis. Haiz hahas it sounds disgusting to describe my mucous colour as KAYA but like tat more interesting mah hahas.. fine its super duper ewww hahas =p

PM Shift
Took 2 cases today, was under SN Yelly lah. Hmm nothing much cus both my patients are pretty well. Got confused on how to give SubQ injection.. cus in the ward their method is different from wad i've learnt in skool.. weird.After work mum came to fetch me lah so went to buy some breakfast for tml cus nid to have heavy breakfast mah.

AM Shift
Haiz.. sian arh..
Early morning i kenna scolding from ms sukhdev liao.Think she got PMS, for some reason small matter she will keep nagging. Wad happen was tat I was still feeling the side effects of my COLD medications so im still bit drowsy. Then i forgot to put my medicine list in my pocket. Haiz then when she ask me wads the medication for.. i got mixed up with other medication indications. Wah lou like tat she nag n nag n nag -_-''

Again like yesterday i took 2 cases lah n was under SN Yelly. She arh haiz when patient for discharge the medication got prob.. she didnt inform me lor then when i passing report.. she didnt bother to update me then i kenna scolding.
Then nvm, before going for my break i oreadi inform her tat i'll go for my break after passing the IMR(Inpatient medication records) to the Pharmacy.Then when i got back Daphne told me tat sukhdev was looking for me.. haiz when she saw me she ask me y didnt i do the discharging for patient n say i not initiative. wtf How am i suppose to noe tat the pharmacy dispatch the medication so fast, normalli they beri long wad... Plus SN Yelly didnt inform Sukhdev tat i went for break.haiz..


No Wonder recently got quite a number of year 3 student nurses quitting.Seriously if i didnt get bonded to KKH.. i'll probably discontinue nursing after graduating even though nid to have 2 years experience then the diploma cert is of use.

AM Shift
Nothing Much today lah jus tat was super duper busy.. cus both my cases got alot to do, such as booking Bone Marrow Aspiration test (BMA), discharge pt, one of my case got high fever 39.2 degrees so nid to call doctor, nid to stat dose paracetamol, off plug cus of swelling, give IV fortum, prepare the BMA things blah blah lah.Got one pt (not my case lah but i noe the pt) kenna extravasation.. wad happen was pt went for CT abdo Pelvis then when the Contrast dye was injected, pt oreadi complain of pain but the staff there continued to give.. so like tat lor haiz.First time saw how the surgeron perform the procedure.. poke n poke n poke then squeeze the fluid out.
Some of the staff do recognise me n Yiqin as the both of us were there in year one .. for example is SN Norlia, Ivan n Sister.

Hmm i Guess the funny part today was when i was faxing one of the forms to cardiac centre.. the paper got stuck in the fax machine so i panic.. then i saw SN norlia aka Mummy.. so i started calling her "mummy mummy!" then she was like " okie Okie coming coming!".. HAHAs damn funny lor

haiz.. everytime when i performing procedure.. Sukhdev is not ard to c BUT when i not doing anything special she confirm will be ard then nag at me for not being initiative to ask the staff. wtf.Today i wasnt as drowsy as yesterday lah so serve my medications correctly n i noe the indications for all of them wah lou then she didnt c me lor.
Then during the discussion about warfarin, i asked if pt is female n during the course of the warfarin regime pt had mensus wad should we as nurses do?..wad i wanted to ask was BESIDES calling the doctor is there anything tat we should do or check and normalli wad will the doctor order... Wah lou b4 i can finish wad i wanted to say.. she cut in then say its a logical answer to call the doctor then say i should think first. knn sia. After wad she did i simply lost interest in asking her.. wads the point when she dun wan to listen.
