Hmm Nothing much to do there lah jus tat nid to call the ward to get the staff nurse there to get the patient ready, receive patient from porter, make sure everything is in order and ensure checklist is done correctly. Also nid to push the patient into the respective theatre for his/her operation.
Quite boring actualli.. basically alot of paper work to do onli.

Down there.. work doesn't start till about 8.40am cus no patients to observe mah... normalli operations start 8am.. finish ard 8.40 like tat. So while waiting the staff nurse there got me to copy some necessary stuff such as the types of anaelgesics and antidotes plus te dosage. Wah lou got so much to copy... write till my hand damn suan.
Patients start coming into the station from 9am onwards lah.. then basicalli all i have to do is receive them, c whether got any special requirements such as whether got drainage blah blah then jus take the patient's parameters lor.

Got A few interesting cases lah.. for example
(1) RTA case ~ patient was involve in @ accident at ard 8-9am then he riding bike hor hit the car and got flung off his bike... the patient got deep abrasions to the right leg n knee lah then his face got alot of cuts..

(2) Orthopedic cases ~ got a few lah like got one patient beri cute sia.. he kept complianing of pain then ask for pain killer so when the anaethetis arrived.. the patient pointed out the pain was actualli caused by the oxygen mask.. Wah Lou can tell the nurse the adjust one lor.. hahahahahs.. not onli that the same patient then ask me whether can remove the heavy thing tats causing him pain in the leg.. but hor when i look at it.. its actualli the metal pins thats been drilled into his leg to hold the bones in place, like tat how i remove sia.. i think the patient forgot wad operation he went for sia cus when i told him tat those pins cannot remove n ask him wad operation did he go for... he say dunno .. -faint-

Another case was starting i heard this loud wheezing sound coming from outside then ask the staff nurse wad sound was tat... she also dunno suddenly got this patient entered the recovery station with the nurse and anaethetis rushing in... patient having breathing difficulty, the sound was striador lah i think then the anaethetis rush to put the ventilator on the patient. Omg the patient is beri strong lor.. he was shaking so violently and kept wan to pull the ETT tube out of his mouth.. Nid 5 nurses to hold him down lor.. becos of tat my left hand initially heal liao.. now kenna sprained again .. alamak..
The anaethetis damn xiong lor... kept asking the patient to wake up by slapping him lor... WTH.. but hor the patient refuse to open his eyes lah.. tot he still undergoing surgery.

tat day cus Hartini was in reception mah so when she got nothing to do.. she come visit me.. when i got nothing to do.. i go Kar Chow her hahahas
Oh yah out of curiousity i went to take my blood pressure lah.. wah lou its still low lor.. 106/64.. recently this reading sia.. think my bp average range drop liao >> good or bad.. not sure.. should be good bah
Got to noe SN Jia Jia tat day.. she beri cute sia.. got interesting cases she will tell me one then the both of us will read together =p.

Manage to Catch the Empty Train tat arrives @ clementi at ard 6.15am.. hehe like tat no nid to stand =p

Supposed to me posted to theater MOT 4 one but cus i haven get chance to do scrub.. so swab with Wan ting.. Went to DSOT3 instead.

That OT is orthopedic one... all the small small cases lah. Got alot of cases is removal of screws..Wah this theatre damn style n modern sia.. got radio n the surgeon song preferance.. they wan music to be played during the procedure.. but hor its not the classical type one.. got alot of latest songs lor, chinese n english

YIPEEE the Senior staff Nurse let me scrub up(double Scrub) n assist the surgeon.. SO COOL.. hahas was damn excited. didnt manage to take pic lah cus not allowed. The operation i did was the removal of screws from right hand lah.. wah lou procedure was damn COOL i stand next to the surgeon then he ask for the equipment.. i agar agar pass to him.. hahas the surgeon also noe i student so he c c then tell me which one =p.. then hor the surgeon teach me how to cut the stitch lor.. he sew, i cut.. ShIOK ARH!! hahas.
Staff nurse then got me to do swab count then equipment count then after the stitching.. time to clear the place lor hehe damn fun =)

Hmm by PM, onli left 2 cases but the surgeon-in-charge is still having operation in another theatre..so i went to find my Senior SN to sign the PDA thing lor.. then jus happen tat when i went in .. the EN was blasting the music ( UnfaithFuL by Rihanna), she didnt noe i was inside lor hahahs .. i dun even think she knew i was inside after i left the theatre =p hehe
Got nothing to do so i chat with the SN lor.. talk alot of things lah like y the menicus repair opt is a wet one (nid to put the scope in mah so water is irrigated into the knee to facilitate the cam). Then i also found out how to become an OT Nurse hehe =p

Early tat morning cus i was SOOO tired.. i fell alsp on the train as usual but by the time i woke up... i reach pasir Ris liao.. OMG i Overshot by 3 stations =p.. rush to take back to SIMEI... lucky i arrange to meet tini early sia =p

hmm the staff there Beri Nice hehe especialli got SN Pei Yan n SSN Azlinda hehe
I got to do Double Scrub again.. under the supervision of Azlinda hahas cus the procedure abit complicated.. Removal of neck lump.. hehe Azlinda went thru everything with me lor..from checking the patient to introduction on wad are the equipment and how to arrange them in sequence of the procedure lor.. I was allowed to do the draping lah.. hahas beri beri fun.. after everything.. after the surgeon remove the lump with was too big to put into the specimen bottle.. everything was cleared n went thru the whole post opt procedure with Azlinda lah.. clearing the equipment, sent them to CSCC then dispatch the specimen.

As tat day onli got 2 case... theatre 7 was closed by 12noon lah so went for break then forgot to let Azlinda sign the PDa so had to find her hahas after tat went to Theatre 6 cus there got interesting case ~ Removal of prostate.. cus patient have CA Prostate then hor cus cannot cut so a team of 4 surgeons had to use camera n other advance electronical stuff to cut lor. But after tat me n Jia ying got bored so we went to theatre 5 cus she say they amputating patient foot.. aiyah nothing lah its jus tat patient foot got a beri bad wound so they cleaning up lor hehe

Last Day In OT

hmm at first got onli 3 cases lor.. one interesting one was the Pancreatic Whipple.. patient have Ca Pancreas.. the surgeon remove the Gall bladder lor.. like tat onli.. then suddenly the Sister then say theatre 7 have to do theatre 8 cases cus tat theatre still stuck @ the first case from 8am till 12noon. So saw removal of occipital Lump , Excision of Right Breast Lump and one which i didnt manage to observe was mastectomy =(

i Guess the most funnny thing was tat i didnt noe i forgot to pin my name tag lor then when sister chong ask me where was my name tag.. i tot i drop lor but instead i found it in my wallet.. so paiseh.

Ended off my OT posting on a good note =).. Seriously after getting to noe the staff there.. i realli like them lor plus the environment. If i ever move house.. confirm go work there one =p
