That very day, everything was normal, nothing special happened.
In the morning i went to work, Went home @ abt 1430hrs, Saw mum washing the car in the carpark upon reaching, Watched the show Casper, Left home together with my second Bro Glenn, my mum and my dog kim to Kovan. Had dinner @ New York New York. On the way home, bought Mcdonald cheeseburger dinner for my dad. Was home by 1900hrs plus. Watch TV programme with mum. Mum closed the window as downstairs was the mid-autumn celebrations and they were blasting the music, Dad did the same thing but he on the aircon and closed the door.Surfed the Net @ abt 2130hrs, Went to Bathe @ 2230hrs. Continued to Surf the net after bathing.

It all started from here.
At abt 2315hrs,

Mum came rushing into my room, saying something is wrong with my dad.
I came out, went to his room. My eldest bro Nick was holding on to my dad.
Dad was motionless
Nick said Dad's lips were purple.
Immediately i told nick to lay dad flat on the ground.
I tired to feel for respiration, couldn't feel anything
I tried to feel for pulse, couldn't feel anything
All i felt was... Dad was cold.... extremely cold.

Glenn was calling for the ambulance,
I could not perform CPR as the room was cramp.
I had nick to drag dad out of the room.
After laying dad flat on the ground, i tried to feel for pulse... i couldn't find any.
I asked wad position was Dad in... Nick said in a kneeling position,
I suspect Heart Attack.

Without thinking and without any hesitation, I performed CPR
Gave Mouth to Mouth Blows,
Gave chest compressions,
Kept checking for pulse,
I did it non-stop.

Mum started calling my aunt to inform her...

Suddenly i noticed dad frown, I thought there was still hope.
I shouted to him " Daddy Wake Up! Daddy Wake Up!".... he didn't respond.
I noticed bruising from the umbilicus to the legs,
White substance came out of dad's mouth... I wiped it away
I continued to perform CPR
Did it for abt 10mins.
Mum, Glenn, Nick watched me performing CPR with hopes.

Paramedics Came, 4 of them in total.
One of the paramedic asked wad happened and any medical history, We gave wad we know.
They gave CPR, Set up the drip, Paste the defibrilation pad on dad's chest.
The machine analyse... it advise not to defib, no pulse detected, continue CPR.
They tried eveything they could for approx 10mins.

The paramedics decided to sent dad to the hospital, I went along with them, thinking i may be of help.
From the house, to the lift, to the ambulance... i was still holding on to hope.
On the way to NUH, I sat in front, 3 paramedic continued to perform CPR, administered Adrenaline, gave oxygen... non stop.

Upon reaching the hospital, the paramedics pushed dad in... I noticed dad was no longer frowning.
i had to wait outside @ the reception
The doctor outside asked for particulars... i gave them.
The paramedic asked for more detailed information... I gave them as much as i know.
Dad had Heart problem.. Atherosclerosis. Had a bypass abt 20 years ago, on medications. No signs of chest pain or anything... that's wad i told them.
Mum, Nick and Glenn came.. We waited for news in the A&E.

Abt 15mins later, the doctor came out... led us into a room
He informed us..... Dad has passed away.
He was declared dead @ 1209hrs.
The doctor asked for information, told us tat dad could possibly died between 2200 and 2300hrs, and explained about the bruising .
The 4 of us were still in shock.
The doctor told us that dad was pronounced dead @ 0009hrs,
He also said tat dad will be a coroner's case as they could not determine cause of death

The doctor left the room... the 4 of us were very quiet...
My mum called my aunt to inform her... she was already @ my house.
Abt 30mins later, i went out to fetch my aunt... saw the taxi, My aunt was in tears.
Brought her to the room, mum & aunt hugged each other..

The Nurse came to inform us tat we could see the body,
We Went into the B.I.D (Brought In Dead) room, A room which i've really never expect to enter.
There lay, my dad's body.
Aunt burst into tears... mum cried...
We went back into the room, the police spoke to us.
Dad's body will be transported to SGH mortuary.
We were to collect the body from there
After all procedures were done, We left to go to the church .

Manage to get hold of a priest...
At least a place to hold the furneral, a place to put the body.
After that, we went home, Mum cleaned the floor, while i collected dad's medications.
Nick wanted to stay @ grandma's house, the 5 of us left home to fetch both aunt n nick to grandma's house .
Came home @ about 4am
Myself, mum and glenn slept in the same room together with kim, But we could not sleep at all

Woke up @ 7am, my mum, Glenn and myself left for SGH mortuary.
Nick and my 2 aunts were there.
While waiting, i called my work place to inform them that i'm applying for compassionate leave of 3 days.
Nick said that my grandmother did not sleep and was sitting on her bed the whole night crying.

At about 9.30am, the inspector said that Max. 3 people to confirm the body.
Mum didn't want to view the body, my aunts insist that the children should do it.

The Inspector brought the 3 of us (myself, Glenn and Nick) to a room and we had to wait for out turn... we were 6 in the row.
Number 6 was called out, the inspector brought us in...
The room had another room inside, we were told to wait for awhile before going in.
The inspector signal us to go in... i was first to go
The room had a glass panel which allows us to see through another room... there lay my dad's body
The person inside had to turn my dad to one side in order for us to see...
Dad's face was half red.. probably from the turning.
After confirming, we went back to my mum & my aunts...

Even though i've seen a number of dead bodies... but somehow viewing my dad's body on a metal trolley , covered with a while towel... I still feel shock.

The inspector came in told us that now the coroner will view my dad's body for cause of death and to determine whether there's a need for autopsy... I had to surrender dad's medications.
Appox 30mins later, the inspector told us the cause of death and there wasn't any need for autopsy.
Dad died from heart failure.

While waiting to collect dad's body, Darence, the guy from the casket came.
We chose which coffin for my dad , flowers, where will the niche be and when will cremation take place.
I passed Darence dad's clothes and shoes
Appox 1hr later, Darence told us that my dad's body was ready for collection.
He also handed us the death certification.
We walked to the side of the mortuary, where the van was there to collect the body.
While waiting.. i was going through the cert..
It stated that dad died due to ischaemic heart disease.

It was our turn to go into the room to re-confirm the body.
The guy from inside asked for a slip of paper.. we forgot to take, darence had to run back to get it for us.
After 5mins, Darence came back and we were allowed to view...
I was with mum while my 2 bros were with my 2 aunts.

We went into a room ....
Dad's body lay in a while bag on a metal trolley.
Both myself and mum were inside for less than 5 mins.. we came out.
My mum and aunts cried.
I can only say that the room had this particular smell.... the smell of death.

We left the place... a place i never want to come back.
One of my aunt had to go somewhere.. so in total the five of us went home to find my dad's photo and settle for the obituaries.
One of the casket guy came to get the photo from my house.

We went for lunch then headed for the church abt 1315hrs.
By then, Darence was there with dad in the coffin.
For the First time after so long, dad was nicely dressed with his hair combed back. Make up was put on his face.
But he could'nt see for himself.
Darence closed the coffin after making a few adjustments..
There was a strong embalming smell.

After settling everything, Priest Father John So came and together we said some prayers and sang the song amazing grace.
My aunt and 2 bros left for straits times head quaters to settle for the obituaries.
Mum and i stayed back.

The flowers came... the ladies nicely decorated my dad's photo.
3 of dad's friends came.. they were there for awhile before leaving.
Nick and glenn plus my aunt came back, myself and mum went home to bathe and feed kim.
By the time we were back, some of our relatives came.

@ abt 1800hrs, Everybody started pouring in... relatives from both sides, friends.
I didn't inform my friends as i was thinking that i wouldn't have the time or mood to entertain them.

At about 2000hrs, the night service came...

Together we said our prayers and sang songs.

Like that the day went by,
About 2200hrs, we had to leave the place, the church will look after my dad.

08/09/08 ( Monday)
Left the house early to go to the church,
As Nick took the car, mum, myself and glenn walked to the church.
By the time we reach there, My aunt was already there.

My second aunt came... even though many advised her not too due to she herself has heart problem as well.
I was worried for her as she began to express breathlessness after viewing my dad.
My grandmother was not allowed to come as she was not of good health and my aunts were afraid of her collapsing.

@ abt 1230hrs, I went down to buy lunch...by the time i came up my eldest uncle was there
Just like that, the day went passed..
family members came, friends and colleages came...
Dad's Colleages came
Wreath from relatives, friends and colleages came.
For my side, Zhao Jun, Gao Xiao, Samantha and Lily came... I wasn't expecting them but really appreciate it.

It was windy and started to rain,
Uncle Hiam said that my dad was waking up...
everybody laughed
Dad's Niche and Urn was chosen.

Just like the previous night, we had the night service and had to leave the place by 2200hrs

09/09/08 (Tuesday)
Today was the wake and cremation day
The 4 of Us woke up early due to we had to rehearsal for the wake.
We inform Penny, the lady -in-charge about the niche.

The Morning went by...
Afternoon came, Uncle derrick flew back from Thailand..
My dad was very close to him.

By 1400hrs, relatives and dad's colleages came to sent my dad off. Darence had open the coffin cover to put in more of dad's clothes which my mum passed to him. One of it was my Dad's Favourite.
We lay flowers in the coffin.

The wake started @ 1530hrs with Priest Father John Paul chanting prayers then Darence and his team lifted my dad's coffin
Glenn and Myself followed my dad's coffin then nick accompanied mum.
We walked to the Main hall where dad's coffin lay in the middle.

Myself, Glenn, Nick and my aunt had to cover dad's coffin with a big while cloth that had a big cross on it.
My aunt place the big holy bible on top of the coffin while i place the cross on the bible.
The session carried on.. Father John Paul said about my dad.

After the session, dad's coffin was lifted and carried into the hearse.
Myself, Mum, Glenn and Nick placed our hands on the hearse as the hearse move.
The Amazing Grace song was played.

The Hearse stopped for us to get on the bus .. We said our Goodbyes
Myself, Glenn and Nick had been controlling our emotions since sunday but somehow we could not control it anymore.
The 4 of Us including my mum broke down.

Mum got on the bus while i followed nick and glenn to the car.
We made our way to Mandai Crematorium Hall 3.
I saw on the electronic listing... dad's name.

@ about 1715hrs Father John So started the prayers...
Placing of flowers on the coffin..
Then the session ended , we were directed to the viewing room

Father John So prayed
Dad's coffin was placed on the machine which slowly brought him into the fire.
everybody could not control their emotions. my mum, glenn, nick , myself, aunts and uncles cried.
My aunts cried so loud, they started to shout to my dad.
I tried to control myself from crying aloud, but i could not control the tears rolling down my cheeks.

After the door closed, We were directed to the resting area.
I went with my mum, Nick and Glenn joined us.
Heard from my aunt that my second aunt was not feeling well while another fainted.
We were there for approx 15mins before everybody left the place.

Nick hold dad's photo in the car..
The 4 of Us didn't Utter a single word till we had to decide where to put the photo.
After reaching home, Both me & Glenn went back to the church to clear the things.
Nick went to school, My Aunt went home, Myself and Glenn went home for a while before we went to clear my dad's Car.

10/09/08 (Wednesday)
Woke up @ 7am, Mum and I went to wash dad's Car,
It has been awhile since i drove a manual car.

@ about 8.30am... We went home to wake my 2 bros as we had to go to Mandai Crematorium to collect my dad's ashes
Left the House at about 9am.. Rushed to Mandai.
Glenn drove dad's Car, Mum Drove her car.

Upon reaching, We Saw my 2 aunts already there with Darence.
We went to a room where there was a small round table in the middle.
Darence carried a box into the room... Dad's Bones were inside.
Darence lay the table with a white plastic bag then slowly remove pieces of my dad's skull and placed it aside.
Its a chinese belief that the bones of the skull are to be place last in the urn as we believe we were born head up, our heads must be up in death as well.
My aunt and myself notice that dad's bones were colour stained... it was due to the long term medications he had taken.
After placing the bones in the urn, we bid farewell to Darence and made our way to the church. Glenn drove dad's car with nick holding the urn ( Mum thought that it would be nice to let my dad's final journey be in his car). I drove mum's car with mum and aunt.

During the journey to the church, mum instructed me not to overtake Glenn.
It rained light showers.
The only thing i was able to do was to clear the lane for him to change lanes.

Upon reaching the church, We went to the niche.
The Priest was there with a small table for the niche to be place temporary.

The ceremony went on with prayers, sealing of niche, sprinkling of holy water, lighting of candles and placing of flower at the niche.
After the ceremony we went our separate ways.
